Hi folks, Today I am gonna share one of my experiences on macOs Sonoma 14.4.1. From macOs Sonoma, apple make a huge improvement to the wallpapers side by introducing the live wallpapers aka slow motion screen savers[1]. They are super cool and I know you guys will also add them to the wallpapers.

Here we have several options to select how these wallpapers are going to rotate. One option is Shuffle All and we can select how often we need to change the wallpapers. So this Shuffle All is doing some updates to the wallpapers from the background. This update is not a small one my friends.

For this background task, I lost nearly 80GBs from just 4 days.

Because of that I had to get more extra data bundles for my day to day tasks. In Sri Lanka some may know that how “cheap” is data bundles.

Moving on, so I tried to disable this service but each and every time I force quit it, it is spawning and consuming data nearly 9Mb per second. I contacted few friends and some of them also have this problem. So I tried to resolve this. One of my friend send me some details about the live wallpapers and I also started to search on that. Then I found this stack exchange question

Based on my friend and this, having the Shuffle All option in the live wallpapers is the problem. So I select one downloaded live wallpaper. But it does not stop. Then I force quit it manually from the Activity Monitor.

Finally it worked.

Also if you want to use Shuffle All option of the live wallpapers, you can use some 3rd party apps to disable this background service. One is there in the above stack exchange thread.

Hope this will help the people who pays more money for the data bundles like me.

See you again. Bye.
